Assistant Dairy Herd Manager opening available in south central Wisconsin. This progressive 400 cow family operation is seeking an optimistic, progressive minded person to help move their dairy to the next level of performance excellence. The dairy utilizes activity and rumination monitoring for maximizing cow health and reproduction, DairyComp and Pocket CowCard for dairy records, monthly Official DHI test, and twice monthly pregnancy checks.
Assistant Manager responsibilities include using computer to track cow health, setting standards for employee practices, efficiency and safety, communicating training and problems between milkers and keeping a clean well-organized work environment.
Parlor Manager responsibilities include equipment maintenance and repair, new milker training and monitoring, milker performance: cows milked per hour, proper prep procedures, cow handling, schedule cleaning and sanitation of parlor and tracking medicine and supply inventories. Some milking each week.
Cow Health responsibilities include monitor cow health and performance, mastitis detection and treatment, identify and treat sick and lame cows, perform vaccinations, dry off and pen moves.
One day off each week.
