Our growing client, Rut ‘N Strut Farms is seeking a FARM MANAGER with experience in specialized Non-GMO corns and/or grains. Come help us grow Bloody Butcher Corn! We are highly environmentally conscious and all about doing things the RIGHT WAY by not growing genetically modified crops.
Responsibilities include all aspects of running the farm from planning and planting to harvest, cleaning seeds, some livestock responsibility, hay and wildlife management. This hands-on position reports to the company owner and will have indirect reports during planting and harvest season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and maintain Farm Operational Plan (encompassing soil health, rotation, fertilizer, cover cropping, composting, etc.)
Order supplies, seeds, amendments, necessary tools to operate farm
Develop production plan
Knowledge in corn and/or grain growing practices
Oversee and assist the production crew and trainees in the bed preparation, high-tunnel production, seeding, maintenance, harvesting, washing, packing of food grown on the property, good handling practices etc.
Grain storage – management including moisture containment and insect abatement
Maintain and enforce the record keeping required for farm food safety and/or organic certification requirements
Make adjustments and enhance programming as needed
Operate and oversee farm equipment such as combine, sprayer, etc.
Indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions
This position is based on-farm
Working schedule will be roughly 40 hours per week Monday-Friday with the exception of planting and harvest seasons which will require some flex work, including some weekend time needed dependent on weather conditions
Compensation package:
Qualifications:
Experience with Non-GMO corns and/or grain, rye, wheat, etc. farm management experience required
Experience working on farms and with production planning and succession planting
High school diploma required; higher education desired
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience managing employees and volunteers a plus
Experience working with tractors and farm implements
Food Safety Training: Certification preferred
Must be able to lift 50lbs
Reliable and trustworthy
Able to work independently and able to direct the work of others
